“The best things in life are nearest; Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.” ~Robert Louis Stevenson
I love this quote! The truth is that I am a star gazer. I am always looking up, always dreaming and aspiring in my mind. However, it is difficult for me to sometimes just breathe and focus on the ordinary parts of everyday life. In particular, when those ordinary parts of life are difficult or tedious, I find myself looking for an escape.
At this phase in life, I am called to be wife, mother, friend, homeschooler and keeper of my home. Also, I write this little blog to process my own thoughts and hopefully encourage a few others along the way. It’s not wrong to dream or aspire, but I don’t want to try to escape the mundane for the more exciting. I want to learn to appreciate and find joy in common work.
